Butterfly Cupcakes

Butterfly cupcake cakes are a great way to celebrate any occassion. Use our photos and easy to follow instructions to create your own.

These butterfly cupcakes use only one cupcake however we also have a fantastic butterfly cupcake decoration that uses 4 cupcakes.

This will make the ideal kids birthday cake - bright and colorful everyone is sure to enjoy them. Make several and serve as dessert - they are so delicious there is no need for anything else.

You can make these at home without any cake decorating experience - just frost with basic frosting and decorate your butterfly as per the photo below. It really is that simple.

In no time you will have your very own butterfly cakes.

If you are really pressed for time - you could buy some butterfly cake decorations but really this is so easy to make there's no need.

Butterfly Cupcake Cake
Ingredients
1 pkt	candy coated chocolates
1	cupcake - any recipe, we used this red velvet cupcake recipe
1 qty	frosting
1 pkt	'freckels' - chocolates with hundreds and thousands
	licorice strips
Method
1.	Frost each cake in a bright colored frosting.
2.	Arrange the choc coated candies down the middle of the cupcake as the butterfly body.
3.	Position the freckels eitherside to represent wings.
4.	Cut the licorice into small antenna.

Butterfly Cupcakes
Ingredients
1	cupcake - use any recipe but we used vanilla cupcake recipe
1 qty	frosting recipe
1 pkt	pretzels
1 pkt	candy coated chocolates
1 tblsp	sugar
	food coloring
	licorice strips
Method
1.	Put the sugar in a bag and color with a few drops of food coloring.
2.	Break two pretzels into the shape of the wing - see photo above. .
3.	Dip each pretzel in water very quickly and shake off excess.
4.	Put the pretzel in the bag of sugar and toss around to coat. Remove pretzel and place on board to dry.
5.	Frost each cake in a bright colored icing.
6.	Arrange the choc coated candies down the middle of the cupcake as the butterfly body.
8.	Position the pretzels as the butterfly wings, pushing gently into frosting.
9.	Cut the licorice into small antenna.
