Engagement Cupcakes
I held the engagement party for my sister. So as a surprise I made her the cake and of course I made an engagement cupcake cake. (This then lead me to making the wedding cupcakes.)
Take a look at the cupcake photo below. The theme color was obviously pink but you could create this cake in any color.
It looks good enough that you could do this type of thing for a wedding cupcake cake.
Each cupcake was decorated individually and no two were identical.
I made a couple dozen chocolate cupcakes the day before the party in silver cupcake papers.
The morning of the party, I then decorated each cake. I used a plain butter cream frosting and colored with food coloring. I made a few shades of pink.
I then decorated each cake with silver cachous; different colored pink sprinkles; and I got adventurous using an icing bag and nozzle to make some rosettes. This was amazingly easy - give it a try, it gets easier as you go - and they don't have to be perfect.
We (well, Neil did) made some round boards out of MDF board and covered in sliver foil. And then stacked the cakes on the tiers. Alternatively you can buy a cake stand, that would work well also.
